Kunjan

How are you? I haven't visited you for a long time.I was busy in the banks to get some money. Are you affected by the currency problem?

Kunjukochu

Not at all. I was already paisaless. One who is down, fears no fall.

Ammini

What is your opinion about the rupee crisis?

Kunjukochu

By his blunder,he has sealed his fate.As we say in Malayalam,"മായ്ക്കാൻ തേച്ചത് പാണ്ടായി ",ie that which was intended to erase something, became a stain.My question is,was it necessary for Modi


to grab the sleeping snake from the fence and put it in his underwear? Serves him right.

Ammini

Maybe he did it for a good purpose.

Whatever it is,he has unleashed a hornet's nest on the man on the Q.He will be a nota in the next elections

Anyway, let's hope things will be back to normal soon.I have
brought some newspapers for you.( hands over some newspapers)

Why,what's wrong with Manorama? You used tobe an ardent reader of Manorama.

Kunjukochu

Not any more,because Manorama is rubbish.They published
a vulgar painting that hurt the feelings of Christians.

Ammini

Why do you worry? You are not a Christian.

Kunjukochu

I do not see things that way. Daughter,the people of this country
are going through hell due to the blunders of those in power.Why add fuel to the fire ?

Kunjan

But artistic freedom should be upheld at all costs.

Rubbish.India is not Denmark.Do you remember what happened to MF Hussein? He did a nude painting of Saraswathi.The Shiva Sainiks smashed his studio and chased him to Qutar.At that time,I condemned their vandalism,but now I feel the Shiv Sainiks vindicated.You know what happened to the Charlie Hebdo cartoonists in Paris? They were slaughtered because they insulted Islam. Was it necessary?

But artistic expression should be upheld.

Phoo...does any arist make a nude painting of his own wife and daughter and display it? No.Why then embark on misadventures? Anyway, leave the Manorama here.I have a shortage of toilet papers.Thanks.

ചില 1960 sports ഓർമ്മകൾ

 പറക്കും സിഖ് എന്നറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന, ഇന്ത്യയുടെ എക്കാലത്തെയും മികച്ച athlete Milkha Singh ഓർമ്മയായി.1960 മുതൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പേര് കേൾക്കുന്നു. ആ പഴയ കാലത്തേക്ക് ഒന്ന് തിരിഞ്ഞു നോക്കുകയാണ് ഇവിടെ. അന്ന് ജനങ്ങൾ വാർത്തകളെ എങ്ങനെ കണ്ടു എന്നതും ഇവിടെ ഓർത്തു നോക്കുകയാണ്. അന്ന് വാർത്തകൾ അറിയാൻ പത്രങ്ങൾ മാത്രമേയുള്ളൂ. അത് എല്ലാവരും വായിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല. വരിക്കാർ ആകാൻ പണം ഇല്ലാത്തവർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. വായിക്കാൻ അറിയാത്തവർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. പൈകയിൽ  കടക്കാർക്കുള്ള പത്രം കട തിണ്ണയിൽ ഇടും. കട തുറക്കുന്നത് പിന്നീടാണ്. ചുമട്ടു തൊഴിലാളികളിൽ ഭൂരിപക്ഷത്തിനും വായിക്കാൻ അറിയില്ലായിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ വാർത്തകൾ അറിയാൻ അവർക്ക് താല്പര്യം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. വായിക്കാൻ അറിയാവുന്ന ആരെങ്കിലും വായിക്കും. മറ്റുള്ളവർ കേട്ടിരിക്കും. ഇന്ന് നമ്മൾക്ക് വാർത്തക്കും entertainment നും നൂറായിരം sources ഉണ്ട്. അതുകൊണ്ട് tip of the iceberg ൽ തൊടാൻ മാത്രമേ നമുക്ക് സമയമുള്ളു. 1960ൽ sources ഉം വിഷയങളും കുറവായിരുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ട്  ഉള്ള വിഷയങളിൽ എല്ലാവരും concentrate ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. അങ്ങനെയാണ് മിൽഖാ സിങ് ഇന്ത്യക്കാരുടെ അഭിമാന താരം ആയത്.1960ലെ ...

The  attack on  Oommen  Chandy- a  Pravasi's  perspective   ( opnion ) The vicious attack  on Honourable  Chief Minister  Sri Oommen Chandy  at  Kannur, allegedly by CPM goondas, has shocked and  saddened  civilised , peace-loving  Malayalees  in India  and abroad. But , unfortunately, there are some people ,who are uncivilised anarchists  who celebrate ,rejoice, and justify  the cowardly and barbaric attack  on the Chief Minister. They are happy that , at least, one of them was able to injure Ommen Chandy, and of course there are others who regret that he escaped death. Such people can be found on the social media, making crude jokes about  Sri  Chandy's injury. It's  a true reflection of the scum that are baying for the blood of Oommen  Chandy. Some gutter channels play second fiddle to these  barbarians ! But  every  decent Malayalee...
