INVIGILATION WOES IN KERALA ( COMEDY )

SCENE 1 ( An examination  hall in Kerala. About  30 people of different ages  are seated. Paper 1 of the M.F.( Master of Fraud) Examination  is about to start. Among the candidates is a young  Sikh. Enter  the invigilator.)                                     Invigilator Good  morning  candidates. Are  you all ready ? We are about to start. Please remember, don't  try to do anything  funny.I mean, copying. I have zero-tolerance in this matter. Do you hear?                                  candidates                       Yes, Sir. ( The  invigilator   distributes the question papers. As the candidates  open the question papers, there are signs of unease on their faces. Some of them look at each other, some look at the ceiling, and some look far away. The  invigilator moves  around, eagle-eyed. He  notices  a young man who is very nervous and  is trying to  adjust his left shoe. The invigilator  goes near him)

RESISTANCE TO RETIREMENT (OPINION )

At  last, the UDF  has entered the final  lap of its 5-year,gruelling race, like a neck and neck 5000 metres race, where the leader, Oommen Chandy,  has survived many challenges. It's as if he was running the race barefooted, on very hostile terrain,on tracks strewn with thorns. It seems most likely that the UDF Govt. will complete its full term. The  LDF  has, halfheartedly  tried all weapons in its arsenal  to oust the UDF from power, with no avail, and in its abortive attempts, it has eroded its credibility. I am not excited about the prospect of  the UDF returning to power, or it being unseated in next year's election. The people are resigned to the fact that no matter who is in power, things will continue unchanged, as in the skyrocketing  price of petrol ,falling prices of cash crops, rampant corruption, fraud, seizure of Govt.land, destruction of the environment etc etc.Even if the LDF  came to power, they wouldn't be able to drop ' manna' from the skies

The art of copying (opinion)

There is no shortage of scandals and controversies in Kerala. The latest scandal is about a top cop who could not cope with the pressure of writing an examination at an advanced age, and resorted to the short cut of the universally accepted practice of copying. The poor cop was not good in studies;nor was he good at copying. It's a pity that the invigilator could not recognize the top cop in civilian clothes sitting in front of him.If the cop had been in uniform, the invigilator would not have dared to go near him.The invigilator should have known better. Generally,a cop can be identified by signs of obesity. Qualifications and Drivers licences from Third World countries are not accepted in First World countries ,because of the culture of cheating, fraud, forgery, copying etc, widespread in the Third World.Immigrants have to prove their qualifications by writing exams in their new country.Ironically,Indians excel academically abroad. In India, one may get away with
