A THOUSAND   LIVES IN OTHERS ( A  poem  by my niece, Sr.Laly Jacob Moloparambil.She  teaches English at Mt.Carmel Higher  Secondary  School, Kottayam ) Thrown  on the ground  rough  and  dry Abandoned  and  uncared, Lonely  and  forgotten I felt an urge to break through  my skin Broke  through  I did a seed  in the hard  soil Broke  through I did to  grow a  stem to produce Leaves, petals,blooms and  blossom. BUS TRIPS IN KERALA

The  positive things  about  Kerala  are seldom mentioned. The media always  highlights the negative things. Anyway, discerning  people don't take the media  seriously. For example, the playing of recorded conversations of  politicians and others involved in the 'kozha'  controversy is  comedy of the best kind. Viewers who get fed up with the serials can  shift to the political comedies  to enjoy  laughter, the best medicine ! In  South  Africa, it's  difficult  to  manage  without a car, because there's a lack of  public  transport. The people  mainly  rely on taxis or hiking.Those who can afford own one or two cars. In  Kerala, most of the middle class own cars, but one has the option of leaving the car at home  and use public transport, especially  when one is travelling alone, and if there isn't any urgency. While in Kerala, I didn't  undertake any  long journeys. The longest one was train  journeys from Kottayam to Kozhikode and back. One c

Adhar Registration

On 5th January,I went for Adhar Card registration.I had apprehensions whether I would get through the process.Pravasis don't have full information about the process.This post is intended to share information about Adhar registration. The registration is done at selected Akshaya Centres.You don't expect many facilities there,eg a desk where you can fill the form.Also,don't expect a toilet. At Paika,the Application forms were issued from 9.30 a.m to 10 a.m.There was only one official working there. A Pravasi can use photocopies of the relevant pages of the passport.eg that of address.If you fill the form correctly,delays can be avoided. The details to be filled are:name,date of birth,father/mother name,cell number,email address,NRO bank acct.number(not compulsory),PAN number (not compulsory).You must know the pin number of your address.
