    Kunjan's house at Paika.Ammini is reading  a newspaper.Enter Kunjan

              KUNJAN

Did you hear the breaking news? Jisha's killer has been arrested.It's thrilling.A great breakthrough for the LDF Government.

        Ammini

Yea,the police deserves praise for their sterling work.But I don't see much to celebrate.


Kunjan

Why do you say so? Don't you feel much safer and happier under
the LDF government?

Ammini

Not at all.I don't see any change.Anyway,let's  give them a chance.

Kunjan

It's a great achievement for the LDF Sarkkaar.The UDF Govt had bungled the Jisha case investigation.

Ammini

Why do you engage in the blame game and the claim game?
It's cheap political scoring.Actually,the people,especially women,
do not feel safe,no matter who is in power.Perumbavoor is over,but any place could pop up,associated with an unspeakable
horrible murder.

Kunjan

So what's  the solution?

Ammini

Until there's harsh punishment,things won't change. Rapists and killers of women must be put to death.

Kunjan

But we cannot stoop low to the level of the IS and Thaliban.

Ammini

We have no option but to crack down on all criminals,big and small,with harsher punishment.And there should be control over the workers from other states.

Kunjan

Crimes are committed by locals and outsiders alike.

Ammini

What's achieved by arresting Jisha's killer? One precious life is already lost.There should be acampaign to educate the people that crime does'nt pay.A criminal commits a crime thinking that he can destroy the evidence and run away to another state.The people must be taught that there is no escape.

Kunjan

Good idea.

Ammini

We can't go on like this.The government should print books explaining the law, and distribute free of charge among the people.The law isn't for the lawyers only.All the people should know about it.Millions of books should be distributed.

KUNJAN

But the Govt. hasn't got that much money.

Ammini

They spend billions of dollars to buy fighter jets.Why can't they find money to fight crime at the grassroots level,using different strategies? If there's a will,there's a way.

Kunjan

Good ideas.I'm proud of you dear.Rainclouds  are gathering.Let's go inside.

The  attack on  Oommen  Chandy- a  Pravasi's  perspective   ( opnion ) The vicious attack  on Honourable  Chief Minister  Sri Oommen Chandy  at  Kannur, allegedly by CPM goondas, has shocked and  saddened  civilised , peace-loving  Malayalees  in India  and abroad. But , unfortunately, there are some people ,who are uncivilised anarchists  who celebrate ,rejoice, and justify  the cowardly and barbaric attack  on the Chief Minister. They are happy that , at least, one of them was able to injure Ommen Chandy, and of course there are others who regret that he escaped death. Such people can be found on the social media, making crude jokes about  Sri  Chandy's injury. It's  a true reflection of the scum that are baying for the blood of Oommen  Chandy.
