Cruelty against a dog

 The incident in which a taxi driver, Yousaf, tied his dog to the back of  his 

car and drove through the streets in broad daylight has sent shock waves among civilized people in Kerala.This incident explodes the myth that Kerala is the most civilized, progressive state in India.

For instance, the culprit in the above case didn't know that cruelty against an animal is a punishable offence.Or, if he knew, why did he embark on this misadventure in broad daylight?

The answer is that there is an impression that one can commit an offence and get away with it.

The ill treatment of the dog is peanuts compared with the daily acts of Goondaism taking place in Kerala.Cases of Goondaism has skyrocketed in recent days in connection with the local elections, as at Kuravilangad yesterday

Anyway, there is a glimmer of hope arising from the dog incident.A young biker dared to shoot a video of the deplorable act.He was audacious enough to confront the offender . His intervention led to the rescue of the dog.

The police and the Motor Vehicle departments took immediate action to lay charges against the culprit.

The punishment for cruelty against animals should be doubled.

The  attack on  Oommen  Chandy- a  Pravasi's  perspective   ( opnion ) The vicious attack  on Honourable  Chief Minister  Sri Oommen Chandy  at  Kannur, allegedly by CPM goondas, has shocked and  saddened  civilised , peace-loving  Malayalees  in India  and abroad. But , unfortunately, there are some people ,who are uncivilised anarchists  who celebrate ,rejoice, and justify  the cowardly and barbaric attack  on the Chief Minister. They are happy that , at least, one of them was able to injure Ommen Chandy, and of course there are others who regret that he escaped death.
