That the UDF candidate in Pala, Sri Tom Jose , is set to sweep the election with a thumping majority is a foregone conclusion.I state this emphatically as a voter in Pala.There is a confluence of favourable factors that point to Jose's comfortable margin.Some of those factors are given below.
1. Lok Sabha results:
The LDF came to power in 2016 with a huge majority.The people expected a clean administration under Pinarayi Vijayan who is known as a strong man.Very soon people's expectations were dashed.Soon it emerged that Pinarayi had nothing positive to offer. For example, the Police continued to oppress the common people.Many people were tortured to death in police custody.
CPM sponsored political killings increased under Pinarayi rule.Demands for CBI investigations were opposed by the Govt to protect the killers.
Worse still, the police are unable to operate impartially under Pinarayi.
Corruption, nepotism, incompetence and misuse of Public funds has continued to this day.
Rs 50 lakh was squandered for the hollow
Women's wall.
Rs 50 lakh was wasted as lawyer's fee
to fight the case against suspended DIG Thomas Jacob, who was suspended for doing his work honestly.
A cabinet post was created for defeated CPM MP Sampath , as Kerala's Ambassador in Delhi.
Pinarayi's use of the phrase 'kadakkoo purathu' earned the displeasure of the people.
In 2018, flooded dams were opened without warning, causing the death of 400 people.
The over enthusiasm of the LDF government in the Sabarimala issue triggered an unnecessary conflict.The Ayyappa devotees were harassed and humiliated.This cost the LDF dearly in the Lokh Sabha elections.
The LDF was routed in the Lok Sabha elections.Nothing has changed since then.
The 19-01 situation persists in Kerala, in Pala in particular.

The LDF candidate, Kappan, has no chance of winning because he is representing a dying party, the NCP, which has no foothold in Indian politics.Cheque cases against him have eroded his credibility.
