I really feel sorry for the politicians in Kerala across party lines, in their desperate scramble to get a nomination to get a seat ๐บ to contest the forthcoming elections .It's like climbing into an already overloaded bus .Everybody wants to get a foothold .Only the top magicians can solve the problem of seat allocation .In the UDF ,Oommen Chandy is the most experienced magician .His survival as CM for five years ,against mammoth odds proved his extraordinary skills as a political magician .
Seat at allocation is like a miracle performed by Jesus Christ .He fed a large crowd of 5000 people with five loaves of bread ๐. In Kerala, a large crowd is clamoring for seats. In one respect, Kerala politicians are more decent than the seat aspirants of North India. There the aspirants set up ⛺ tents near Party Head Offices many weeks before the seat allocation, or tickets, and clashes break out when the tickets are announced. Kerala politicians are matured and patient.
It's like a poor harvest ,and too many unemployed workers seeking jobs .
The aspirants for tickets have to undergo a baptism by ๐ฅ before a ticket can be issued .All factors need to be considered in choosing a candidate .For example the religion and jathi are pivotal factors .The aspirants are not satisfied with getting a seat ,but they want seats that are safe .
140 seats and hundreds of aspirants ,and inflated demands from alliance partners .It's very interesting to see how the magic is going to unfold .
The seat- sharing crisis can be resolved in three ways.First ,amend the electoral law to bar all candidates above the age of 65.Secondly ,split the constituencies into two ,raising the number of seats to 280.Thirdly ,reduce the term of the assembly to three years .In this way ,more politicians can be accommodated .
In a true democracy ,the political playing field should be levelled so that everyone gets a piece of the cake ๐ .
