A review of Sony Karackal's poem dated 24 March 2013

aaradhakan, who hasn't studied malayalam beyond SSLC,and who left kerala in
1974.So forgive me my errors.Actually I want to write in malayalam, but I'm not familiar
with Malayalam typing.
Sonu is essentially a romantic poet.He has a passion for tenderness, sweetness
and civility. He doesn't venture into current social issues.Thante kochu kili-

In this poem, the poet is confident about being accepted by his priyathama/prrana
sakhi. This is evident from ''pariyanayumen painkiliye'.Here the poet is claiming
her as his own. It seems that they had had a golden period of courtship. This is
clear from the phrase'' ponnuthirunnatham painkiliye". The poet is a kili landing
on the threshold of golden memories.Even her presence, and her breath were
heavenly for him. eg ''poomazhayelkkuvan'. These lines reflect the poet's tender
feelings toward her.The imagery of flowers is synonymous with the ultimate
frution of love,as flowers are associated with joy and celebrations.
I discern some echoes of the famous song 'sanyasini' in the words ''ennumennalmavu
dahichirunnu'',but not with the grief dominating that song.
I'm think the poet has used the imagery of paikkidangal to express his happiness
because he is about to meet his pranasakhi.''sadaram'' shows his respect for women.
He is the embodiment of courtesy and tenderness. The poet has a distincive
liking for yellow colour.Perhaps he had some association or experiences with
that colour.Maybe it's his password for love.It seems he wants the girl to appear in
a yellow sari.Yellow is associated with ripeness.
Then, the manimanchal is the culmination of the poet's pilgrimage. The mani-
manchal is associated with 'aadyarathri".It's that occasion when the lover's
dreams become true.Remember the song 'Chakravarthini' and ''madhurikkunnormakale
manimanchal konduvaroo.....
