Some people make a mockery of India's democratic system in two ways.First, by contesting elections just for fun.Second, by forming one's own party,like setting up a 'thattukada'.
History is witness to the rejection of the both types of mockery.I am not sure whether a thattukada is licensed or whether the food served there is hygienic and healthy. But those shops those shops are allowed to function because it's the 'vayttil pizhappu' of the shop owners and workers.
Similarly, the existence of splinter parties is generally tolerated on the basis of "vayttil pizhappu ' or a hand -to -mouth existence.
Anyway, the writing on the political wall in Kerala is clear ;splinter parties are unwanted babies.The breakup of the Kerala Congress Secular is the best example. Neither the UDF nor the Left is going to lay the red carpet for the Secular 'aya Rams and Gaya Rams '.
Splinter parties are formed on the basis of personality cult,arrogance and a false sense of one's own importance. some leaders don't adhere to party discipline, so they defy party leadership and break away from the mother party.The Kerala Congress party has a unique history of multiple splits like multiple rockets. That party has multiple offspring, with various letters of the alphabet attached to each, like Kerala Congress (M),(J),(B) etc.
Some splinter parties do not adhere to the discipline of political alliance. For example, Ganesh Kumar and PC George left the UDF. Their future hangs in the balance.
In my childhood, I used to watch the circus stunts of a former circus artist who used to visit Paika every month. He claimed that he was previously a member of Gemini Circus. He was accompanied by his wife and his 7-year-old daughter. He and his daughter performed some tricks while his wife beat a drum. They performed under the scorching sun,and the man
went around with a bowl,begging for some money. His situation was miserable because he wasn't under the protection and comfort of the tent of a big Circus. After some months,he disappeared.
The situation of some splinter parties is like the situation of the lone Circus artist. Their floor -crossing tricks don't attract spectators anymore. Eventually
they have to quit.
the mushrooming of splinter parties must be thwarted by raising the registration fee of a political party to at least one Crore. similarly, anybody who contests an election for fun should be heavily fined if he or she fails to get at least 25 percent of the vote.
