THE VISITORS "I've no visitors," I complained to myself Even though my gates and doors are open Days, weeks and months pass by But nobody comes. One day, sitting in my orchard, Lonely, gloomy and bored, A sudden thought flashed on me, Like lightning, and my eyes and ears opened I heard music unheard before I saw beauty unseen before I realised I was naive, blind and deaf To the visitors around me The birds, butterflies and bees On my trees and in the air I hadn't heard their flappings Their diverse music and their little quarrels Their comings and goings Their pecking of my ripe peaches A new world unravelled before me A world of freedom and happiness Now I share their happiness, and feel I'm not alone.
